This is a departure from the Adventure in that it features an amazing museum in Nanton, Alberta, Canada. This is a small town of little repute except for the amazing tale of how three guys bought a WWII Lancaster Bomber for $519 in 1960 and dragged it over fields, rivers, and railroads to their town. They fully restored it, the engines run, only four Lancasters in the world where they do so. Around it they have created the Canada Bomber Command Museum full of a collection of artifacts depicting those times.

The Lancaster is set up as a “dam Busters” Lancaster complete with bouncing bomb slung underneath. There are many other aircraft. There are collections of nose art, drawings put on aircraft noses to improve moral. The men’s room has a funny poster – a pet tube by the way is the instrument that measures airspeed on an aircraft!

This is a museum that reminds us of the bravery of our allied pilots, their sense of humor, and the terrors war brings. Lets not forget the sacrifices made by so many, to ensure our freedom.
